Aphrodite Sweetshrub (Carolina Allspice) – Calycanthus – 3 Gallon Pot

Purchased two Aphrodites in the three gallon size. Shrubs arrived within a few days and were in excellent condition upon arrival. The packaging was very well done.
I have prepared the bed by using lots of loamy nutrient rich soil. I dug about three feet down in a ten foot area and added lots of organic material from my compost pile. They will be getting about four hours of late afternoon sun which I hope works for them. The area I need to fill with these bushes is quite shady the rest of the day. Only time will tell if the location works. I sure hope so because these bushes are really gorgeous.

I have been looking for a Carolina Allspice that wasn’t a twig for years. Finally stumbled on Wilson brothers website and found exactly what I needed (yes, a need not a want). I accidentally ordered the wrong species of the plant and called and someone answered (mind blown) and fixed my mistake. The plant came in perfect condition and healthy. This is a family owned company and you can tell they have pride and treat their employees well. I love their website, I use it for reference for all my plants in my yard. This was my first purchase through Wilson Bros Garden and they are amazing. Not only does their web site easily enable searches but they were one of the few who carried an Aphrodite Sweetshrub. I ordered it on a Tuesday afternoon and it arrived at my home in VA that Friday, amazing. Plant arrived well packed and in good shape. Looks like it will do very well. A little yellowing on bottom leaves after 3 weeks but seems healthy.——————————-Yellowing on leaves this time of year is pretty normal, you can pick them off or just let them fall naturally. Fed X delivered my plant on time. The packing was amazing and the plant looked so fresh and healthy. I was so thrilled to see the big pretty green foliage which was a pleasant surprise. Purchased carolina allspice aphrodite (not sure of spelling). The plants were big and arrived healthy and vigorous. Did not go through any transplant shock. Still doing well, even though I did not plant in the ideal soil conditions. I was very impressed with the very nice Aphrodite Sweetshrub you shipped me. It was very large and in good health. I can already say I really, really like this variety.
