Description
The fastest growing coniferous evergreen tree we offer and perfect for tall privacy screen plantings to block unwanted views, the Carolina Sapphire Cypress, also known as Arizona Cypress, features lacy, silvery mint-green foliage that provides year round color and texture in the landscape. Specimens in our gardens have grown to to 30 feet tall and 10 to 12 feet wide in as few as 7 years. A fine alternative to or in combination with the Leyland Cypress in privacy screen plantings.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing in an upright pyramidal form 25 to 30 feet tall and 8 to 12 feet wide, the Carolina Sapphire Cypress is ideal for use in evergreen privacy screen plantings. It is also useful to frame in the corners of tall homes and other buildings or as a specimen or background anywhere in sunny landscape borders. A fine addition to conifer gardens, bird gardens, wildlife gardens and Xeriscape gardens (low water needs). Perfect for an outdoor Christmas tree!
Suggested Spacing: 10 feet for privacy screen plantings; 18 feet or more for space between trees
Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7a, where this Cypress variety is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring. That said, it will need a well-lit indoor location.
Growing Preferences
The Carolina Cypress is tolerant of a wide range of soils, even clay, preferring a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and plenty of sunshine. Will tolerate light shade but plants in full to mostly sun are much fuller. Minimal to no maintenance, no pruning necessary to keep its dense, naturally conical form. Exceptionally drought tolerant when established.

Like all the other plants I have ordered from Wilson Bros., this tree arrived healthy and has continued to do well. I am pleased with this tree.————————————————-Thanks for the awesome review! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
I’ve ordered 3 times from Wilson Bros and each delivery was perfect. Ordering BIG plants can be a crap shoot but the Wilson people haven’t let me down. The 1 gallon Carolina Cypress was 2 feet tall with multiple branches and perfectly healthy. The only disappointment is that the central leader was cut but I’m sure it was done for shipping. Another 5 star transaction.———————————-Thanks for the photo! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
Tree arrived in excellent shape. One gallon plant was bigger than I expected in height and branching. Liked it so much that I ordered another.———————————————-We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
We cut down 2 large birch trees that the prior owners planted too close to the house and wanted something that would provide some privacy and some shade without getting wider than an 8 foot radius for this spot. I also LOVE the blue color. We have lots of green evergreens in our yard so this adds interest to this area. I’m excited to see it fill this space!————————————————–Thanks for the photo! I’m pretty rural & don’t have a lot of options for different varieties of trees & plants where I live. I’ve ordered trees, berry bushes, & plants online for a few years now & have ordered twice from Wilson Bros. Both times I’ve been pleased with the packaging & the health of the trees. My husband and I will always look for trees from Wilson Bros first.—————————Thanks for the great review! We are so glad you are pleased! Beth | WBG
