Description

With bright and fragrant flowers that are sure to light up and fill the garden with fragrance, the Clear Creek Aromi Azalea is a deciduous rhododendron hybrid that produces abundant clusters of bright, light yellow flowers with white throats and pink stamens – beautiful! Heat and humidity tolerance, vigor, fragrance, and unique color all come together for an absolutely stunning color display and delicious aroma in the spring garden.

Clear Creek is one of many Aromi Hybrid deciduous rhododendron selections developed by Dr. Aromi. In hopes that they might be enjoyed throughout a much broader range of the US, and especially for the hot and humid climate of the South, Dr. Aromi used native species as well as hybrids in breeding to develop this heat tolerant series with the same if not improved colors, vigor, and fragrance of our native deciduous azalea species. Though the Aromi’s are cross hybrids and technically not “full-blooded” North American natives, to keep things simple we list them in our Native Azalea category.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 8 to 10 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide, the Clear Creek Aromi Azalea is ideal for use as a specimen or in groupings in woodland borders or other areas of the landscape that provide moist but well-drained soils rich in organic matter. A fine selection for fragrance gardens, Azalea gardens, woodland gardens, pink theme gardens, and cottage gardens.

Spacing: 12 feet or more apart for space between plants

Growing Preferences

Clear Creek Azalea is very easy to grow in moist but well-drained soil of average to high fertility and part shade, preferably morning sun with some shade or filtered sun in the afternoon. Evening sun is fine. Once established plants are quite drought tolerant, requiring supplemental water only during prolonged periods of dry summer weather. Native azaleas are very low-maintenance, requiring little if any pruning. That said, occasionally we might prune a stray branch that is spoiling the natural form of the plant.

The price was a bit high for a three gallon azalea but the shipping was free so I went for it. The plant arrived healthy, in less then a week, larger than expected and covered in blooms. I’m very pleased with all the plants I have purchased from Wilson brothers. This azalea arrived several weeks ago and not yet planted. But is happy and the buds should open soon. It’s nice to be able to buy such a large plant from mail order. My deciduous azalea arrived yesterday and I am so happy with your packing job. The plants arrived only a week after I ordered them and in wonderful condition. This is my first order from Wilson Brothers but it certainly won’t be my last! The azalea has larger stems than I expected and several big healthy flowering buds and well developed roots that filled the pot but was not pot bound at all.
