Description
Exceptionally versatile and easy to grow in full sun or full shade, Harbor Belle is a true dwarf Nandina that grows to about 18 inches in height with a spread of up to 3 feet. Also known as “heavenly bamboo” for its bamboo-like appearance, the base of this clump-forming plant consists of open cane-like branches topped with fine compound leaves that are glossy dark green and leathery. New leaves emerge in shades of pink and develop burnished purple-red and pink hues in winter. In summer, white panicles of small star-shaped flowers appear followed by abundant clusters of red berries that are maintained through to winter and are enjoyed by the birds. Harbor Belle provides a a pleasing soft texture in the landscape when used in small groupings or in mass plantings as a groundcover.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing in a spreading clump 1.5 to 2 feet tall and 2 to 3 feet wide, its beautiful foliage make Harbor Belle Nandina an excellent choice for groupings or mass plantings in sunny to partially shaded landscape borders and home foundation plantings. Also ideal for use to line walkways and paths. Makes a fine centerpiece or accent in container gardens. A fine addition to rock and Xeriscape gardens (low water needs).
Suggested Spacing: 18 inches apart for mass plantings; 4 feet or more apart for space between plants

Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 6a, where this Nandina variety is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Harbor Belle Nandina is exceptionally easy to grow in a moist but well drained soil of average fertility and full sun to full shade. Plants are exceptionally drought tolerant when established. As with so many other shrubs, constantly wet or soggy can cause root rot and other plant diseases. Very low maintenance requiring little if any pruning. A fine addition to Asian gardens, woodland gardens, red theme gardens and wildlife gardens.

Well packed beautiful large plants!!!!———————————————We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! Thanks for the great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
I was extremely pleased with the plants I purchased, and the professionalism Wilson Brothers provided.
Specifically, the selection of Nandinas that allowed me to order Firepower, Harbor Belle, Gulf Stream, and Blush Pink. The variety of color added to my gardens will be awesome. I also received Blue Dune Lyme Grasses to compliment my evergreens.
Of most significance was the ease in ordering and the extreme care taken by your nursery in packaging the plants; truly a great experience and most appreciated.
Looking forward to ordering some groundcover bamboos when you have them back in stock.
