Description
A very tough yet attractive juniper perfect for covering embankments, hillsides and slopes and for landscape borders, the Parson’s Juniper grows 24 to 30 inches tall and up to 8 feet wide with with feathery, very dark green leaves on branches that reach out horizontally like arms. Grows very dense to block out weeds and has good salt tolerance, making it an excellent selection for seaside plantings. If low maintenance and resistance to heat, cold, drought and insect and disease resistance is your thing look no further than the Parson’s Juniper.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing about 2 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide, the Parson’s Juniper is excellent for use as a groundcover on large to small slopes and embankments, in landscape borders, or as a low-growing foundation shrub. It is equally useful in small groups or as an underplanting for small trees such as the Japanese Maple and Crape Myrtle. One of the most popular junipers for bonsai. A fine addition to conifer gardens, rock gardens and the Xeriscape (low water needs).
Suggested Spacing: 4 to 5 feet apart for mass plantings
Growing Preferences
The Parsons Juniper is exceptionally easy to grow in most any average, well-drained soil and full sun to light shade. Plants are exceptionally drought tolerant when established. As with so many other conifers, constantly soggy or wet soil can cause root rot or other harmful plant diseases. Very low-maintenance requiring no pruning when provided ample room to grow.

Made sure I read the instructions for care and planting information on your page. We put them in our small nursery for a few days so they could get use to our humidity and life outside of the box. We prepped the soli with new potting soil. and were careful to plant deep enough. We then mulched the planter. After a few days fertilized, them and kept them watered. They are doing perfect. I was very surprised at how big and healthy they are after receiving them. We are minor gardeners and feel plants are a major investment, that should be handled with care.

We ordered 24 Junipers to help stabilize our sunny backyard bank. This Parsons Juniper was one of them. We have to say we were thrilled with our purchases and have no complaints. The plants arrived extremely well-packaged without any soil spillage. We have placed a few orders with Wilson Bros and will continue to make them our first stop when purchasing plants on line.——————————————————-Thanks for the kind words and awesome review! All the plants we have ordered from Wilson Bros have been outstandingly beautiful. They are healthy, have a good root system, and transplant pretty easily. We recently planted dozens of juniper around our house in Colorado and all have been doing well. I highly recommend Wilson Bros. and will order from them again and again. Thank you.—————————–We are so glad you are pleased with your purchase! Thanks for the kind words and great review! Beth | WBG 🙂
