Description
When it comes to fragrant lilacs it just doesn’t get any better than Syringa hyacintha, and Scentara Double Blue won’t disappoint! In spring, abundant clusters of purple flowers with seashell shaped petals take on blue tones in the sun, which is what they like best. A very heavy bloomer that has demonstrated superior disease resistance. Plant this one near patios, decks porches and other outdoor living spaces where the pretty flowers and wonderful fragrance can be enjoyed from closer up.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 6 to 8 feet tall and equally as wide, the Scentara Double Blue Lilac is ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings or as a natural hedge in landscape and flowering shrub borders. Perfect near patios, decks, porches and other outdoor living spaces. A fine addition to fragrance gardens, cottage gardens, cut flower gardens or purple or blue theme gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 5 to 6 feet apart for solid hedges; 12 feet or more apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Plant your Scentara Double Blue Lilac in full sun in northern zones and provide some shade or filtered sun during the hottest part of summer afternoons in Zone 8. Likes a moist but well-drained soil with pH close to neutral. Add pelletized lime if your soil is extremely acid. Fertilize once, in early spring, with a light application of an organic plant food or slow-release shrub & tree fertilizer. Prune as necessary after bloom in spring.

I am very pleased with this item and the service that I received from Wilson Brothers Gardens! I called and got their voicemail. I didn’t leave a message but before 5 minutes had lapsed I received a phone call from a woman (unfortunately I do not recall her name) at Wilson Brothers Gardens.
I planned to send this as a gift and wanted to know if this plant would do well if planted in southern Maine. I also wanted to know about their shipping process.
She was extremely pleasant and helpful.
I purchased the lilac plant on-line and it was delivered to the recepient in Maine within a week. It was intact and thriving.
This was my first purchase with Wilson Brothers Gardens. I will definitely recommend and make future purchases with them!—————————————————-We are so glad you are pleased and we hope your friend enjoys it for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
