Description
Extremely prolific and showy, the ‘Tiny Comfort’ Asiatic Lily might be small in stature, but it sports large and dramatic very fragrant flowers in velvety deep red shades that will not go unnoticed in the garden from early to mid summer – by you or your guests, including the butterflies and hummingbirds. The numerous blooms (5 buds per stem) are held atop upright sturdy stems, densely clothed in rich green narrow leaves, that reach 14 to 16 inches tall. Enjoy them as an accent in smaller garden spaces or containers or in stunning groupings where space will allow. Every year these lilies will return twice the size and with twice as many blooms as the year before. One of those flowering beauties that will always have you looking forward to summer in the garden. Plant this one near patios and other sitting areas where the beauty and fragrance can be enjoyed from up close.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 14 to 16 inches tall and equally as wide wide, the Tiny Comfort Lily is ideal for growing in pots or garden beds around patios, porches and other sitting areas where the beauty and fragrance can be enjoyed from up close. Also a nice addition at the front of the border in perennial gardens. A fine addition to lily gardens, fragrance gardens, red theme gardens, cottage gardens, butterfly gardens and Asian gardens
Suggested Spacing: 16″ apart for groupings
Growing Preferences
The Tiny Comfort Lily prefers a moist but well drained acidic soil and full sun to light shade. We suggest at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day for best flowering. Constantly soggy soils can cause root rot. When all the leaves have turned yellow in late fall or winter the stems can be cut back to a few inches or so above the ground. We usually wait to cut them back until late winter, when we’re pruning many other plants in the garden.
Plant Long & Prosper!
